Abstract: An introduction of research activities at Department of Physics and Division of Nuclear Engineering in Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) is given emphasizing on recent progress in XFEL program, attosecond science, and fusion plasma science to pursue collaboration with IAE, Kyoto University.
In magnetized fusion plasma research, the importance of non-modal fluid instabilities is explained in the context of generalized Ginzburg-Landau equation and advanced plasma diagnostics on the KSTAR tokamak. Beyond the conventional plasma physics, the plasma state in supercritical medium is described and its prospect is explained as a new joint research topic encompassing XFEL, ultrashort pulse laser, and plasma physics programs.
